This course is for the individual who needs to develop safe firearm-handling skills and a solid foundation of basic shooting skills with both the handgun and the AR-15 style of carbines. Students will learn the fundamentals of marksmanship and basic firearms manipulation to include drawing from the holster, reloading and clearing malfunctions. From these basic skills, the training will progress into more challenging shooting drills that will reinforce the fundamentals while providing lessons that can be practiced to maintain skills. During the last two days, shooters will apply the same fundamentals of marksmanship to the carbine, developing the basic firearm manipulation skills for carbine-type firearms. Students will then apply those skills to more advanced tactical situations, including transitions and use of cover.
Student will quickly gain experience, confidence and increase their skill level with both handgun and carbine. Students will leave with a good understanding of shooting fundamentals and how to apply them in a tactical situation.
500 pistol rounds per day (1,500 total). 500 carbine rounds per day (1,000 total). 9mm (9x19) is the minimum service caliber for this course.
